FORMER RESIDENT IS DEAD

Charles Phillips, a former Sheldahl resident, passed away Wednesday, June 10, at his home in Linden. The funeral was Saturday in the Sheldahl Methodist church, with Rev. Phillips in charge. Burial was at the Sheldahl cemetery.

Charles Lawrence Phillips, son of Edmond and Rosanna Phillips, was born at Polk City, Ia., Sept. 6, 1878 and passed away at his home in Linden, Ia., June 10, 1953.

On Aug. 27, 1907 his was united in marriage to Fay Harden. To this union was born 6 children, five of whom with his wife survive. They are Harold of Roland, Ia., Florence Finch of Kelley, Ia., Donald of Jewell, Ia., Lillian Samson of Kelley, Ia., and Herbert of Westerleigh Staten Island, New York. One son, Claude, passed away at the age of 3 years in 1913. He also leaves 16 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Olive Sawyer of Kelley and Mrs. Ethel Zachary of Bakersfield, Calif., four brothers, Ray of Haxtun, Colo., Robert and Vern of Saint Paul, Minn., and Carl of Cedar Rapids, Ia.
