AGED LADY IS LAID TO REST
Mrs. Anna Aamundson Buried From the Haugus Church Sunday--Large Crowd.
Mrs. Anna Amundson, whose sudden death took place at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Houge, on the 21st, was laid to rest last Sunday afternoon from the Haugus church, Rev. Hanson having charge of the services. Burial took place in the Bethlehem cemetery. There was special singing by the choir and a large crowd was in attendance, some coming from a distance.
Mrs. Anna Aamundson was born at Agdesten, Norway, August 21, 1836, and died at Slater on October 31, 1922, having attained an age of 86 years, two months and ten days. In 1863 she was married to Knut Johannes Hillestad and a short time afterwards they came to America and Iowa, where she lived till death called her. Six children were born to them, of whom five are living. They are: Mrs. S. O. Houge and John Hill of Slater, Mrs. J. J. Engstrom of Waterloo, Knut Hill of Millburn, Kentucky, and Mrs. T. H. Anderson of Guttenberg, Sweden.
Mr. Hillestad died October 15, 1872 and in 1875 she again married, her second husband being Nels Christopher. To them were born two children, Arne Christopher of Slater and Mrs. A. G. Aamundson of Radcliffe. Her second husband died in 1893. In 1902 she was married to Helge Aamundson with whom she lived with fourteen years, his death taking place January 24, 1916. Since that time she had made her daughter, Mrs. S. O. Houge, at Slater. All the children with the exception of Mrs. Anderson of Guttenberg, Sweden, were present at the funeral on Sunday.
