Harmon James Shutes was born in Bridgewater, Lenaway county, Michigan, Feb. 5, 1849 and died at his home near Kelley, Iowa, May 29, 1904, at seven-thirty. He moved to Boone county, Iowa, in 1870, where he resided until eight years ago when he moved to his present home. He as married May 9, 1880 to Sarah Goodrich, to which union two sons were born - Bertrum and Willis, both surviving him. On Dec. 11, 1889 he was married to Florence Cree. To this union five children were born. One died in infancy. Four, Maurice, Ruth, Leslie and Kenneth, survive him. The funeral services were conducted in the Kelley Congregational church, Tuesday, by Andrew M. Shea of this city.
