Funeral of E. H. Decker
Took place Friday at 3 o'clock from 1616 West Eighth Street, Des Moines. The funeral of the late E. H. Decker was held from the residence Friday at 8 o'clock, there being a large attendance of relatives and friends. The Masons had charge of the services at Woodland.
The sudden death of E. H. Decker, which occurred at his home, 1616 Eighth street, yesterday morning, was a severe shock, not alone to the family and immediate relatives and friends but to the community as well.
Mr. Decker was born in Caledonia, O. July 2, 1861. At the age of 3 years he came with his parents to Ames, Iowa. When 14 years old he returned to Caledonia, O., living with his aunt, Mrs. Cynthia Hunter, for five years. Returning to Iowa, he soon after entered the ranks of traveling salesmen, having been employed the greater part of the time by Aultman-Miller & Co., Fuiler & Johnson Manufacturing company and the Racine-Satley company, being in the employ of the last named at the time of his death.
Mr. Decker leaves a grief-stricken wife and two sons - Paul, aged 10, and Frank, aged 8 years old. His mother, Mrs. Eliza Decker, has recently made her home with the family. Mrs. F. H. Noble of 516 East Maple street, this city, and Mrs. S. L. Carlton of Linderwood, N. D., are his surviving sisters.
Mrs. Decker's father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Hart of Caledonia, O., and her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Hispher, of the same place, and Mrs. S. L. Carlton of Linderwood, N. D., attended the funeral.
