PACKER, CLARENCE LUTHER (1872-1952)

“CLARENCE** LUTHER PACKER. – Clement** Luther Packer, son of Aaron and Mary Packer, was born April 19, 1872, at Rochester, Indiana. He passed away in the hospital at Nevada, Iowa, April 5, 1952. He lacked 14 days of being 80 years old. He was married to Anna Kuhn October 12, 1895. To this union were born: s son, Virgil, of Pasadena, California, and a daughter, Mrs. Reathel Jensen, of Oak Park, Illinois. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Zoa Nellons, of Cincinnati, Ohio, a half sister, Mrs. Flora Reams of Rochester, Indiana, and a half-brother, Fred Packer, also of Rochester, Indiana. These and a host of friends and neighbors mourn his passing. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, April 8, at the Maxwell Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Henry T. Hackman in charge. The casket bearers were Willis Evans, Paul Klink, Van Busenburg, Glen Scott, Ernest Wood and V. O. Ray. Alice Gooden sang “Beautiful Garden of Prayer” and “No Night There,” accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Betty Porter. Burial was at Nevada. Out-of-town relatives present at the service were his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jensen, Oak Park, Illinois; his son, Virgil Packer of Pasadena, California; Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Uoschel, Tippecanoe, Indiana; Fred Packer, Harold Kohn, Coloin Kohn, all of Rochester, Indiana; Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Dunn and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kling of Newton, Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stockberger of Cedar Rapids.” “CARD OF THANKS – We are sincerely grateful to the friends, neighbors and relatives for their many kind acts of sympathy during our sad bereavement in the loss of our loving husband and father. Mrs. C. L. Parker, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Packer.” **Editorial note – both names were used in the newspaper.
