BEN SVANDAHL IS LAID TO REST

Funeral on Thursday, Presided Over by His Pastor, Rev. Duea--Was Highly Respected.

Ben Svandahl was born October 9th, 1846, at Svandahl Sovde Sogn, Norway. He came to Roland, Iowa in 1877. While making America his home he lived in Story county all the time with the exception of 14 years. Seven of these he spent in North Dakota and seven at Seattle, Washington. He made his home for some time with his brother, Sam Svandahl, south-east of Huxley. He was married to Mrs. Frovick, February 23, 1904, and made his home on the Frovick homestead near Slater till the spring of 1613 [sic] when he bought property in Slater and took up his residence here. He continued to make Slater his hoe till death called him on Monday evening, last week. He had been totally blind for over three years and was poorly in health a part of that time. His last illness dated back thirteen weeks. He leaves to mourn his loss a faithful wife, two sisters and a nephew, Mr. Oliver Svandahl, of south east of Huxley.

Deceased will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful neighbor. He was affiliated with the Lincoln church where he had been a faithful worshipper from the time he took up his residence in this vicinity. The funeral services Thursday afternoon were in charge of his pastor Rev. Duea, and were attended by neighbors and friends. Burial was made in the local cemetery.
