OBITUARY OF MRS. MARTHA WEEKS.
Was Born in Norway and Came to America at an Early Age.
Mrs. Martha Weeks, who died last Saturday and was buried on Monday, was born at Morten Havn, Norway, January 27, 1852. While yet a young girl, nine years of age, she accompanied her parents to America. They took up their residence of Wisconsin. After a lapse of three years they moved, coming to Iowa, where she made the acquaintance of Thomas Weeks, then a soldier boy, to whom she was married in 1868. To this union were born ten children, all of whom were present during her late illness and burial. they mad their home for many years on a farm southeast of town where the deceased resided until she moved with her husband to Slater not a few years ago.
During her long residence in the country, Mrs. Weeks was an active worker in the Palestine congregation of which she was a member and at all times took a leading part in its interests and advancement. Her interest in Christian work never lagged and she was equally active in every good cause while living in Slater. She was an earnest christian, honored and respected far and near.
The children mourning her loss are daughters, Mrs. John Richardson, Mrs. Ole Lee, Mrs. Ole Storing, Mrs. John Simonson, Mrs. O. M. Brown, Mrs. Alice Reinertson and Miss Sadie, and sons Henry, Wier and Oliver.
