“NETTIE KIMBERLEY BEALS – Feb. 5, 1898 – Nov. 20, 1998. – Nettie Kimberley Beals, 100, of rural Collins, died Friday of congestive heart failure at Baxter Health Care Center. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Collins United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Diane Jones. Burial will be in Peoria Cemetery near Maxwell. Nettie Kimberley Beals was born near Collins, the daughter of William and Mary Cleverley Kimberley. She graduated from Queens College (now Drake University) with a degree in tailoring. On Jan. 20, 1926, she married Stanley Beals in Nevada. Mrs. Beals was a home-maker who enjoyed cooking and raising chickens. She had lived in the home she was born in for more than 98 years before moving in with her son for a year. She entered the Baxter Health Care Center earlier this year. She was a member of Collins United Methodist Church, the UMW, South Circle and the Farm Bureau, and had served for many years on the Peoria Cemetery Association. Survivors include one son, Larry James Beals of Collins; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandson, four brothers and two sisters. Visitation is from 6 to 8 tonight at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Jan. 11, 1985; a grandson, James “Jim” Beals; four brothers, James “Jim” Kimberley, John I. Kimberley, Arthur “Sam” Kimberley, Jatie William Kimberley; and two sisters, Mary Pearson and Minnie Kimberley.
