“FUNERAL SERVICES AT WHITE OAK FOR DONALD WHITNEY. Special to the Journal: Maxwell, Sept. 11 – Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Donald Whitney, son of Leona and Russell Whitney of Fort Dodge, at the White Oak U. B. church. Donnie was born Dec. 4, 1935, near Cambridge and had been a patient in the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines the past nine weeks, where he passed away on Saturday, at the age of five years, nine months and three days. The rites were in charge of Rev. H. D. Robinson of Des Moines, assisted by Rev. Hobson of Cambridge. Orville Woodman and daughter Esther sang “Asleep in Jesus” and “Precious Jewels.” Floral tributes were many and most beautiful. The services and burial were at the White Oak church and cemetery nearby. Besides the mother, father and sister, Dorothy, who mourn the loss of little Donnie are four grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Whitney and Mr. and Mrs. Ted McHone and Great-grandmother Burns, all of Cambridge, and a large number of relatives and friends. Attending the rites from Maxwell were Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Rupp, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Whitney, Willis Evans and daughters Estaline and Kathleen, Mrs. Roy Bell, Mrs. John Norton, Mrs. J. B. Scott, Mrs. Bertha Porter and Alva Pritchard.”
