AN AGED PIONEER DIED YESTERDAY
Hans Rasmussen Passed Away at His Home West of Town. Aged 81 Years.
Hans Rasmussen, an aged Danish citizen living about four miles west of this city, died at his home yesterday morning at 1:15. Mr. Rasmussen had been ailing with stomach and kidney trouble for some time, and that, coupled with the complications incident to old age caused his demise. The deceased had lived in the neighborhood in which he died since 1867, or more than forty years. He was a good citizen and had a large circle of friends among his neighbors and the business men of the city.
The deceased was born in Denmark on May 17, 1825. In 1866 he left the home of his birth and came to America, settling first in Illinois where he lived for a year, then came out to Iowa and settled on a farm northwest of this city, where he had since resided. At the time of his death he was 81 years, 7 months and 21 days of age. He leaves a wife and two sons, Ludvig and John. Both live near the parents.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at one o'clock at the house, by Rev. J. O. Simon of Memorial Lutheran church of this city, after which the remains will be laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery.
