Goldmer Hankins is dead

Goldmer Hankins, 78, 1115 11th St., Nevada, died Saturday evening at the Story County Hospital. He had been ill for the past eight months.

The son of Jerry and Mary Hankins, he was born January 25, 1890 in Marshall County. He was married to Miss Jessie Roe in 1912 and they had resided in Nevada for the past 50 years.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, Donald of Phoenix, Ariz. and Glen W. of Nevada, three daughters, Evelyn Cook of Webster Groves, Mo.; Virginia Brouhard and Vivian Wilkening, both of Nevada, 18 grandchildren, seven great grandshildren, one brother, Jerry Hankins of Zearing and a sister Mrs. Lavina Prke of Moorehead, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 11 brothers, one sister and one son.

Funeral services will be held from the Ryan Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Azel Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.
