Services Were Held For Nellie White At Catholic Church
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at St. Patrick's Church for Miss Nellie White, who died Saturday, Feb. 18, 1961.
Nellie White was born in Jacksonville, Ill., Feb. 22, 1875, the daughter of David and Margaret White.
For many years she lived with her brother and sister-in-law, the late Mr. and Mrs. Edmund White, with whom she came to Story County, first living for several years on their farm south of Colo.
Moving to Nevada a number of years ago, they had lived at 537 Seventh St. Nellie attended the Nevada schools, graduating with the class of 1895. Miss White followed the teaching profession, teaching for 21 years in the Nevada schools. She had preciously taught three years in the rural schools and one year in State Center. She had been retired for a number of years.
June 23, 1953, she entered the Story County Hospital where she was a patient until Oct. 5, 1955, when she was transferred to the Leola Gilman Guest Home, 1032 Fifth St., where her death occurred Saturday, Feb. 18, 1961, a few days before her 86th birthday.
Services
Funeral services for Nellie were held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Wednesday, Feb. 22, 1961, at 10:00 a. m. with the Rev. J. J. Brickley officiating.
The music was furnished by the St. Patrick's Church choir, which was directed by Mrs. Lester Meimann with Mrs. Reis Prati at the organ. The casket bearers were: Charlie Morrell, Raymond O'Donnell, George Robinson, C. C. Stark and Carl P. Stark.
Burial was in the Nevada Catholic cemetery.
