Richardson Funeral Service at Maxwell

Maxwell, Sept. 7--Funeral services for Will L. Richardson, 69, native son of the Elwell neighborhood, who died at his home here Saturday, were held at the Christian church Monday afternoon, with Rev. W. J. Hastle of Albia in charge, assisted by Rev. B. H. Guthrie of the Presbyterian church. The music was in charge of Rev. LaFavre.

The church was crowded with relatives and friends gathered to pay a final tribute of respect to the earthly remains of this good man.

The following sketch of his life was read by the minister. "William Luther (W. L.) Richardson, son of Robert and Mary Richardson was born near Elwell, April 30, 1865 and departed this life at his late residence in Maxwell, Sept. 1, 1934 aged 69 years, 4 month and 1 day.

"He was married to Josephine Diehl, Sept. 3, 1890. To this union four children were born, Diehl at home, Marguerite Chester of Elizabeth, N. J. and Mrs. Charlotte Hick, also at home. All of the children are privileged to be present at this time with their seven grandchildren. He is survived also by three sisters Mrs. Ella Paine of Edison, Neb., Mrs. Bessie Forrester of Ogden, Utah, Mrs. Effie Sheldon of Waterloo and one brother Charles of Cambridge.

"Brother Richardson was converted under the preaching of Dr. W. F. Black while attending Drake U. many years ago and ever since he has been a very faithful member of the Church of Christ.

"For years he served as Bible school superintendent and for many years also he had faithfully and honorably filled the office of elder, officiating at the table of the Lord only a week ago last Lord's Day, although many members recognized that he was not well. His last illness was brief but very severe. Mr. Richardson was a fine christian gentleman, always cheerful and uncomplaining. No couple ever enjoyed each other more than Will and his good wife. He died steadfast in the faith of the Gospel. He rests from his labor but his influence for good will continue. 'Because I live ye shall live also.'"

Those from a distance here for the service were Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Richardson and son Robert of Fanwood, N. J., Marguerite Chester, Elizabeth, N. J., Mrs. Ella Paine, and Clyde Paine of Edison, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Diehl and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Diehl of Osceola, Will Herrick, Nelson, Nebr., Mrs. Effie Sheldon, Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Hastle, Albia, Mr. Brown, Ames, Mrs. Cora McConnell and daughter Doris and Mrs. Lyle McConnell of Nevada, Mrs. Mildred Fink and friends of Zearing, Mrs. Frank Richardson returned from Nebraska.
