Mrs. A. M. Lee of Roland Died There This Morning

Roland, April 5--Mrs. A. M. Lee, 40, wife of the principal of Roland high school, died at her home here today following an illness of about 15 months, during which time she had been confined to her bed.

Funeral rites are scheduled for Thursday afternoon, with prayer at the home at 1:30 and the funeral at Bergen church at 2:00, followed by burial in the Roland cemetery. The rites will be in charge of her pastor, Rev. M. O. Sumstadt.

She was born May 7, 1897 on the old Johnson homestead near Garden City. She grew to womanhood in this community and was for some years employed in the Dillin department stores, both at Garden City and McCallsburg.

She was united in marriage on August 30, 1928 to A. M. Lee at Roland, they going at once to Eagle Grove where Mr. Lee was then connected with the schools.

The next year they went to Dayton, where Mr. Lee was employed as principal of the high school for four years, or until 1933, when they returned to Roland and he became principal of the local high school, which position he has since held.

During their residence in Roland they had lived with her mother, Mrs. Helen Johnson, whom she leaves, besides the husband, a daughter Helen, age eight and son Donald, age seven years.

She also leaves sisters Mrs. Dane Crook of Chicago, Mrs. Adrian Rankin of Zearing and Mrs. E. W. Shafland of San Diego, California, and brothers Richard Johnson of Chicago, Howard Ferkin of Marshalltown and Joseph Johnson at home.

Mrs. Lee was a woman of very fine character and loved and respected by all who knew her. She was active in church and social affairs as long the condition of her health would permit of such activity.
