THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, August 23, 2005.

Betty Gallagher Trunkle, 74, of Ankeny died Sunday, Aug. 21, at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House in Des Moines. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Betty Gallager Trunkle was born July 9, 1931, and grew up in Ames. She married John Trunkle Sept. 24, 1967 in Ames. She worked at Interstate Assurance in Des Moines. After retiring, she moved to Ankeny and worked part-time for Hy-Vee. She enjoyed her grandchildren and going to all of their activities. She was also a long time Cyclone fan.

She is survived by two daughters, Alicia (Brad) Edwards of Ankeny and Kelly (Joe) Schiefelbein of Lakevelle, Minn; one son, John Trunkle III of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren, Christopher Edwards, Alyssa Edwards, Connor Edwards, Matthew Schiefelbein, Nicholas Schiefelbein and Andrea Schiefelbein; three sisters, Sister Gertrude Gallagher of Bolivia, South America, Margaret Finnerty of Athens, Ga., and Geraldine Zappa of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., one brother, Robert Gallagher of Bellingham, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Trunkle; her parents; and several brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m.

Ankeny Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of services.
