Services For Long Time Resident Held in Zearing Nov. 28
Funeral services for John F. Johnston were held Wednesday, Nov. 28, 1962 in the Zearing Christian Church, with Rev. Ted Warren officiating. Burial was in the Zearing cemetery.
Casket bearers were Duane Eley, Curtis Bauer, Glenn Frohwein, William Brown Jr., E. W. Bartine and Donald Bartine. Mrs. Gordon Lundy was organist for the quartette of Russell Golly, Dale Johnston, Kenneth Jones and Eldon Crain. Mrs. Lela Adams and Mrs. Eldon Crain cared for the flowers.
Obituary
John F. Johnston, son of Ambrose and Elizabeth Johnston, was born April 21, 1893 on a farm east of Zearing where he spent his entire life. He died Nov. 25 in the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, where he had been a patient for more that four weeks.
He was a retired farmer, and was educated in the rural school near the family home.
He is survived by three sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Pruitt of Caldwell, Ida, Mrs. R. R. Comfort, New Providence and Mrs. Alice Blayney and Ambrose, both of Zearing, also a cousin, Miss Lizzie Johnston, who had lived in the home for many years, several nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
