J. J. Tarman Milford Farmer; Died Early Today

J. J. Tarman, 80, died at Iowa sanitarium early today as a result of an attack of uremic poisoning which became serious one week ago today, at which time he was taken to Iowa sanitarium and has since been under the care of a physician and continuous nursing service.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p. m. at the Bishop Funeral home and burial will be in the family lot in the Nevada cemetery, where his wife was buried about thirteen years ago.

Two, children born to Mr. and Mrs. Tarman are both dead, one dying in infancy and a son Merrill* passing away at the age of eight years.

Mr. Tarman was a native of Gridley, Illinois, where he was born 80 years ago September 27. He was a farmer near LeHarpe, Ill., for a number of years, coming to Iowa and locating on the farm in southeast Milford township, Story county, in 1895.

There the wife died in November 28, 1826 and there he continued to make his home until the fatal attack which claimed his life.

He was a cousin of the late Chauncy Tarman of Nevada and was a man of fine character and leaves a wide circle of friends.

He leaves a large number of nephews and nieces, as well as other more distant relatives. The nearest relative locally is Francis C. Tarman of Nevada, a second cousin*.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: According to his stone in the Nevada Cemetery, J. J. and Laura Tarman's son was Merle Tarman (20 Mar 1885-14 Jan 1895) died at age 9 years.

Francis Tarman is a 1st cousin once removed of J. J. Tarman.
