Jessie Atwood Funeral Services Held In Collins
Jessie Southern Atwood, daughter of David and Caroline Penquite Southern was born March 7, 1881 and died Monday, Oct. 15, 1962. She was raised on the farm on which she was residing at the time of her death.
On Oct. 15, 1900 she was married to Stark Atwood who preceded her in death two years ago. Two sons were born to this union; Floyd and Lowell, both of Collins.
Jessie enjoyed many social and church activities. She was a long time member of the Collins Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Garden Club.
She is survived by her son, four grandchildren, William and Linda of Collins, Gene of Maxwell and Carol Head of Madison, N. J., two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Ozmun and Mrs. Lena Renfeldt, and one brother, Harve Southern, all of Collins.
Preceding her in death were her husband, one brother, John Southern, and two sisters, Mrs. Eva Tilton and Mrs. Marie Mulcahy.
Services
Funeral services were held in the Collins Methodist Church, Oct. 18 with Rev. James Louk officiating. Music was provided by Ruth Mitchell, Dorothy Holland and Phyllis Dervy. Doris Duesbury and Wilma Bowers were in charge of the flowers.
Casket bearers were J. J. Morrison, Fred Kimberley, Henry Duesbury, Dewey Kern, Horace Ozmun and Erville Bowers.
Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Collins. Cooper Funeral Home was in charge.
