Funeral Services Are Held Saturday For Frank Bartell

Frank Bartell* was born Jan. 22, 1883 near DeSoto, Ia., the son of John and Frances Bartell.

In 1887 he moved with his parents, brothers and sisters in a covered wagon, pulled by oxen to Petersburg township, [Jackson County], Minn. He grew up in that community gaining his schooling there, and then went to Walla Walla, Wash., where he began as a blacksmith at the age of 19.

Soon after he returned to St. James, Minn. where he set up his own blacksmith shop.

He was married to Millie Nerness and to this union four children: Frances, Lester, Thomas and Maynard.

Bartell lived his entire life in Minnesota after returning there from Washington, until one month ago when he came to Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bartell, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Moveriska [probably should be Morawitzke.]

Surviving are his children: Frances, Mrs. John O. Cole of Osceola, Ia., Lester and Thomas of Nevada, Ia. and Maynard of Des Moines, Ia.; also three sisters, Mrs. Art Gelhaye of Chicago City, Minn., Mrs. Ada Strom of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Nellie Dorr of Alpha, Minn., one brother, John Bartell of Long Beach, Calif., six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He died at 6:15 a. m. July 19, at the Story County Hospital.

Funeral Services

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 21, at 1:30 p. m. for Frank Bartell at the Ryan Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Link officiating.

Miss Beeula Settle, organist, furnished the music for the service. The casket bearers were Robert Hobson, Wes McDaniel, Howard Peterson, Lester Settle, William Shickell and Herschel Wycoff. Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
