Mrs. J. E. Spurlock Funeral Services Were Held Friday
Fern Hazel Bloomfield was born at Maxwell May 8, 1900, the daughter of John and Minnie Bloomfield. She grew up in the Maxwell community, attending school and church there. She was baptized early in life in the Methodist Church.
She was married Sept 21, 1921 to John E. Spurlock at Boone, Ia. They set up housekeeping in Ames, while he attended college there. They then moved to Marionsville, Mo. where he taught school. They moved to Kansas City, Mo. where they lived for a number of years, and where she died July 17, after an illness of several years.
Survivors include her husband, John E. Spurlock; her son, John B. Spurlock; her father, John Bloomfield of Nevada; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Beal and Mrs. Effie Whitaker of Maxwell and Mrs. Vivian Angle of Ames. Also several other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services
Funeral services for Mrs. Fern Hazel Spurlock were held at the Ryan Funeral Home Friday, July 20, at 2 p. m. with the Rev. Robert Link officiating.
Miss Beeula Settle was organist and accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Alice Goodin, as she sang, "There Will be No Tears in Paradise" and "In the Garden."
Mrs. Marie Cook and Mrs. Leota Scott were in charge of the many floral offerings.
The casket bearers were Charlie Bloomfield, Harry Gibson, Louie Krausman, John Osborne, Clarence Stark and Ernie Wood. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery at Collins.
