DEATHS
JOHN L. PURZELL
John L. Purzell, son of Steve and Anna Purzell, was born June 8, 1907, in Zamatova, Czechoslovakia and died Sept. 19, 1985 at Oak Park Care Center, Nevada, Ia., of cancer.
Survivors include his housekeeper and dear friend, Kathleen Dunahoo; his mother, Anna Purzell of Slater; four sisters Mrs. Virgil (Helen) Woods of Madrid, Mrs. Charles (Ann) Ramsey, Mrs. Dean (Sylvia) Heggen both of Des Moines, and Mrs. Nick (Emma) Jusick of Indiana; one niece; four nephews; several great nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Preceding him in death was his brother Joseph, who was killed in World War II, and his father, Steve.
Before coming to Maxwell, Mr. Perzell worked with his father in a coal mine. He came to Maxwell in 1939 and worked as a tavern owner for 16 years. Upon retiring he bought a farm northwest of Maxwell where he lived until his death. His hobbies were gardening, mushroom hunting, and fishing. Services were held at Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell Saturday, Sept. 21. Burial was at the Maxwell Cemetery.
Rev. LaVonne Kaasa officiated at the funeral.
