Howard Dawson Died Early Today At Iowa Sanitarium
Howard Dawson, 68, longtime resident of this community, died at 7:45 a. m. on the anniversary of his birth at Iowa Sanitarium where he head been taken last evening.
Mr. Dawson had been an invalid since three years ago when he suffered a stroke of apoplexy. During that long period of invalidism he had been able to be up and around and had spent the most of the time at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Vivian Riddlesbarger in Milford township.
He was born in Bloomington, Illinois, May 21, 1873, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Washington Dawson, and he came to Iowa with his parents when about 20 years of age.
He was first married to Miss Maude Confare, December 18, 1894. She died in 1914, leaving five children.
The parents are survived by Vivian, now Mrs. Ray Riddlesbarger of Milford township; Homer C. Dawson of Nevada; Blanche, now Mrs. Guy Anderson of Ames; Louise, now Mrs. Dan Stillwell of Ames and Kenneth Dawson of Nevada. The deceased also leaves one brother, Will Dawson of Waterloo.
Mr. Dawson was for many years a successful farmer and through his pleasing personality, had gained a wide circle of friends.
The funeral services for Mr. Dawson will be held at 2 p. m. Friday at the Morfoot Fuenral Home.
