Mrs. Mat Shearer Dies Sunday in Hospital at Ames
Mrs. Williard (Mat) Shearer, rural route Ames died Sunday at 6 p.m. in the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.
Mrs. Shearer was born June 26, 1891 in El Paso, Ill. and came with her parents to Story County in 1898. She was married to Willard Shearer May 16, 1912 at Nevada. They have been residents of Story County since their marriage. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, May 20 of this year.
Mrs. Shearer was a member of the Open Bible Church in Shipley.
Survivors include the husband; two sons, Donald of Elk Horn, Nebr. and Harold at home; three daughters, Mrs. Mina Williams of Cambridge, Mrs. Ada Sargent of Jewell and Mrs. Lucille Fuss of Nevada; two brothers, Bert Vogt of Nevada and James Vogt of Ames; a sister, Mrs. Della Womack of Elma; also 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Stevens-Ross Funeral Home in Ames with the Rev. Ernest E. Coggley of Des Moines officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.
