Mrs. Fred Higby Dies at Ames at 3:35 a.m. Saturday

Mrs. Fred Higby of 317 Seventh St., Ames, died at 3:35 a.m. Saturday morning at Mary Greeley Hospital.

She was born Nov. 5, 1892 near Colfax, Ill., and has lived in the Ames area since 1900. A member of the First Christian Church of Ames, she was married to Claude Layman in 1912, and to Fred Higby in 1937.

Funeral services are tentatively set for Monday at the First Christian Church at Ames with Rev. LaVern Ervin officiating. Burial will be in the Municipal Cemetery in Ames. The boy is at Adams Funeral Home.

Her husband survives, along with two sons, Paul A. Layman of Portland, Ore., and Roy W. Layman of Glenview, Ill., one brother, Roy A. Arnold of Boulder, Colo. and one sister, Mrs. D. A. Jay of Ames, and five grand children. She was preceded in death by one brother, Richard, in 1935.
