Rites for Mrs. Myrl Dodd* Held Friday at Collins Church
Funeral services held for Mrs. Myrl Brown at the Christian church Friday afternoon Rev. Robert McDonald officiating. Mrs. Kenneth Tomlinson and Mrs. Donald Carlson sang "Ivory Palaces" and "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied by Mrs. Hugh Fertig.
Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Harvey Westcott and Mrs. Alvin Tiffany. Casket bearers were Berle Robinson, Dale Huffaker, Harold Hale, Alvin Tiffany, John C. Tiffany and Harvey Westcott.
Interment was in the Evergreen cemetery. Cooper Funeral Home were in charge of the service, in Maxwell.
Obituary
Jessie Opal Dodd, daughter of Dennis and Belle Dodd, was born on June 12, 1903 and lived her entire life in the Collins vicinity. Her death occurred on July 4, 1960 in the Evangelical hospital in Marshalltown at the age of 57 years and 22 days. She had been in failing health for several months.
On February 5, 1921 she was united in marriage with Myrl M. Brown and to this union were born two children: Dale Everett who died in infancy and Doris, Mrs. Wesley Borts of Collins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son and one sister, Mrs. Alda Huntrods. Survivors are the husband, the daughter and grandson, Gary Borts, two sisters, Mrs. Rhoda Brown of Maxwell and Irene, Mrs. Tom Stratton of Collins, one brother Henry Dodd of Collins. Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Jessie was a member of the Christian church of Collins and a worker in the units of the Women's Fellowship as long as her health permitted.
