Olga Tynning is dead at age 93, rites Saturday
Miss Olga Tynning, 93, of Story City Bethany Manor where she had made her home since 1963. She was born Dec. 15, 1875 at Brekki Sogn, Bergen, Norway, to Lasse and Martha Tynning.
She came to the U. S. in 1881 with her parents and family and they settled in the Jewell area. She was the first telephone operator in Jewell and she and her sister operated a seamstress shop in Jewell at one time.
Previous to coming to Bethany Manor she had lived in the Jewell and Stanhope areas and in Des Moines.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Stanhope with the Rev. Enoch Hall officiating. There will be a service at the chapel at Bethany Manor Saturday morning at 10 a.m., with the Rev. M. C. Hagedorn, chaplain at the Manor officiating. Burial will be in Lake Center Cemetery near Stanhope.
Surviving are five nieces: Lenora Tynning of Story City, Mrs. Adolph Sevde of Iowa Falls, Florence Tynning of Nevada, Mrs. Marian Johnson of San Jose, Calif. and Mrs. Don McFarron of Rockford, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters and her parents.
