OBITUARIES

Ronald Edward Becvar

Ronald Edward Becvar, 58 of Colo, died of pancreatic cancer at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames on Sunday, April 10, 2005. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 13 at the Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada with pastor Scott Milsom officiating. Burial followed in the Colo Cemetery.

Ron was born on March 16, 1947 to F.F. (Mike) and Lois (McIntosh) Becvar in Ames. He lived in the Colo, Story County area all his life Ron graduated from Colo High School in 1965. On September 30, 1967, he married Ellen Parrish in Nevada. Ron started farming in 1963 an retired from active farming in 2002. He was a member of the Army Reserve, the William F. Ball American Legion Post #48 in Nevada and spent 11 years with the Story County Sheriff's Reserve. Ron thoroughly enjoyed his grandkids and spending time in the outdoors.

Ron is survived by his wife Ellen of Colo; a daughter, Shelley and Marlin Beard of Washburn, Iowa; a son, Brad and Valerie Becvar of Colo; 4 grandchildren, Hunter & Wayne Beard, an Taylor & Haley Becvar; 5 sisters, Joann (Nyle) Hartwig of State Center, Ruth Hickle of Hemet, CA, Augdre (Glen) Carlson of Lena, IL, Billie (Russ) Alfrey of Medford, OR and Eileen (Jerry) Klonglan of Ames; 2 brothers, Harold (Naty) Becvar of El Paso, TX and Stan (Carol) Becvar of Nevada.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, infant brother, Felix F. Jr., Bob Becvar in 1960, Dwight Becvar in 1991, and a sister Dorothy Becvar in 1965.

A memorial fund has been established for the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames and the new flag fund at the William F. Ball American Legion Post #48 in Nevada.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada had been entrusted with the arrangements.
