WOMAN DIED FROM AUTO WRCK INJURIES
ACCIDENT OCCURED ON JEFFERSON NORTH OF COLO SUNDAY AFTERNOON.
Mrs. Sarah Pinckney, 82, Des Moines woman, died at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines, Monday as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident Sunday at a point near the Thomas Handsaker home, north of Colo on the Jefferson highway, when the steering wheel of the car driven by her son, C. F. Pinckney broke and the car was ditched.
Neither Mr. Pinckney nor his wife were injured to speak of but the automobile was badly damaged.
Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Pinckney and his mother were on their way to the old home at Clear Lake when the accident occurred. The injured lady was taken to the Handsaker home where first aid was administered, and she was hurried to the hospital in Des Moines, where she died the day following.
Following the funeral services for Mr. Pinckney's mother in Des Moines today, the body will be taken to Clear Lake, Mrs. Pinckney's old home, for burial.
Mrs. Pinckney was born at Cortlandtown, N. Y. in 1843. She was married to Frederick A. Pinckney in 1860 and came to Iowa with him in 1877. They settled on a farm near Clear Lake where they lived until 1892. Since 1892, the year of her husband's death, Mrs. Pinckney has lived with her children and relatives.
She is survived by two brothers, Elijah Tompkins of Clear Lake and H. Tompkins of California, and five children, Carrie A. Smith of Kansas City, H. A. Pinckney of Maynard, Ia., Ida F. Willis of Seattle, Wash., C. F. Pinckney of Des Moines and Nellie P. Muffly of Raymond, Wash.
