MRS. THRIFT DIED SUNDAY AFTERNOON

HAD BEEN RESIDENT OF NEVADA FOR OVER HALF A CENTURY.

Mrs. D. V. Thrift, 75, died at her home on Fourth, just off of Lincoln avenue. Sunday afternoon at three o'clock, after a long illness and general breakdown. The funeral services will be held from the home Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock, in charge of Rev. J. George Walz of Central Presbyterian church after which interment will be in the Nevada cemetery by the side of her husband, who passed away about three years ago.

Mrs. Thrift had been an invalid more or less of the time for many years and since the death of her husband had been confined to her home the most of the time.

Mrs. Thrift was one of the pioneer women of the community, having come to Nevada with her husband in 1973 an live here continuously since.

She was born at Mansfield, Ohio, in August, 1847, her maiden name being Emily A. King. When she was a child of three her mother passed away and shortly after that the father moved with his family to Warsaw, Indiana, where he died ten years later.

She was brought up and attended the public schools of Warsaw and it was there that she was married to David Thrift, a young soldier just out of the Civil War, December 28, 1865.

Shortly after their marriage they came out to Iowa and located first at Newton where they lived until 1873, when they came up to Nevada and this had been their home since and it was here that Mr. Thrift passed away about three years ago.

Mrs. Thrift leaves no relatives other than some aged nieces who live in Ohio and Indiana and some nephews of Mr. Thrift who live in the same states. It is hardly thought that it will be possible for any of these relatives to be present at the funeral services.

The funeral will be in charge of neighbors and friends and J. G. Dutton who had charge of the business affairs of Mrs. Thrift since the death of her husband.
