Cambridge, June 5--Funeral services for Clara Estella Severson, 40, who died at her home here May 31, was held at the Walnut Grove church Wednesday afternoon, the services being conducted by her pastor, Rev. Peter Jacobs, after which interment was in the Walnut Grove cemetery. A mixed quartette from Cambridge sang three hymns at the funeral and the pallbearers were Glen Severson, Howard Severson, Fred Wills, Floyd Will, Burnis Myers and Clifford Myers all related to the deceased.Clara Estella Severson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Severson living five miles northwest of Cambridge was born July 4, 1885. Had she lived until this coming July she would have been forty years old. All her life had ben spent in the vicinity of her home. When she was a young woman of twenty she became afflicted. The very best of medical skill was sought in her behalf but no remedy was found to restore her to health and strength. About four years ago she had a severe fall since which she has been confined to the home. For the past year and a half she has been bedfast.
She attended Walnut Grove school. While a young woman she united with the Walnut Grove Methodist Episcopal church. She leaves a father, mother, two brothers, Oscar T. Severson, Cohasset, Minn., and Harry L. Severson, Wheeling, West Va., and two sisters, Mrs. Ben Jennings and Florence Severson.
"She was an illustration of what a human being can suffer and endure," her pastor said. "With what patience and fortitude she faced the slow oncoming death. She realized that she was dying by degrees. How many of us would say "I am feeling fine" as she did a week ago Sunday. How easy it is for the most of us to be impatient with temporary pain or the loss of a little time. What did it mean to her that she knew something about Christ and His grace before she became afflicted. Death came to release her Sunday morning, May 31 at 7 a. m. It was good for her to be here among loved ones who were so tender, kind and considerate. But how much better for her to be where the other loved ones of this home are and where there is no suffering, pain, sorrow, death."
