From Nevada Representative April 29, 1903 (page 5)

Mrs. John Peakin died at her home in this city Thursday, April 23, 1903, after an illness of some ten weeks. Her maiden name was Margaret Comeford. She was born in Ireland in 1845 and came to this country in 1865--first to Rhode Island, subsequently to Illinois and later to Iowa. She was married in 1870 to John Peakin and, soon after, they came to Story county where they have since lived--twenty years on a farm near Colo and the balance of the years in Nevada. She was a person of quiet ways, a devoted Catholic, and a woman of genuine worth. Her funeral services were conducted by Father Nichols in the Catholic church Saturday morning last and were largely attended. Of or near relatives she leaves a husband and a sister, Mrs. Fagan of Alvord, Iowa. Mr. Peakin expresses grateful appreciation of assistance and kindness received during his wife's illness and death.
