MR. CROUCH DIED VERY SUDDENLY

PNEUMONIA FOLLOWING OPERATION CLAIMED AGED FATHER OF MRS. A. FREELAND

Mr. L. Crouch, father of Mrs. Ansel Freeland of Avenue J passed away at the Good Samaritan hospital in Portland, Oregon, Saturday, according to a message received here.

He underwent an operation Sunday, Jan. 18, and was getting along nicely until Thursday when it became evident that the pains from which he had complained were from pneumonia. Double pneumonia followed and in spite of every care he passed away within forty-eight hours.

Mrs. Ansel Freeland of this city and Mrs. H. G. Flemming [should be Fleming] of Portland are his only remaining children already having passed away.

Mr. Crouch has a brother, Harl S. Crouch at Neosho, Missouri and a sister, Miss Kate Crouch at Hamilton, Ill.

The body will be brought by his daughter, Mrs. Flemming to Blockton, Iowa, for the funeral to be held at 2:30 p. m. Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Ansel Freeland and their children will join the sister at Des Moines and be present at the funeral and burial which will take place at Plattville, Iowa.

Mr. Crouch was 72 years old. He came to Taylor county, Iowa in an early day from Hancock county, Ill., where he was born and raised. His life has counted for good. He decided each question from a christian point of view and in the strength of his manhood was a leader in religious activity. He was blessed with a winning personality and made many friends wherever he went.

For the past seven or eight years he had divided his time between his two daughters.
