DUNAHOO, MAJOR R.

June 26 1876 - 27 July 1952.

THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, July 31, 1952, page 1, column 1. “MAJOR R. DUNAHOO SUCCUMBS. – Marjor R. Dunahoo, son of James and Ellen Dunahoo, was born June 20, 1876 in Story County, Iowa, and departed from this life at 11:25 a. m. Sunday, July 27, 1952 in the Story County hospital, at Nevada, Iowa, at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 7 days, after a lingering illness. He was united in marriage to Arba Veneman on October 9, 1900. She preceded him in death, December 12, 1943. To this union were born three children, Merril M., at home, Mrs. Arlo (Lenore E.) Hayes of Long Beach, California, and Everett H., who passed away October 30, 1939. He will long be remembered as a farmer, stock buyer and a good neighbor. He enjoyed life and everyone was his friend. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Methodist Church of Maxwell. He leaves to mourn his passing a son, Merril, daughter, Lenore, one grandson Thomas W. Hayes of Long Beach, California, two great grandsons, besides a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Maxwell Methodist Church, with Rev. Oren Hall in charge. At his request, a male quartet, Clark John, Dorus and Max Myers, and James Beal sang, “The Old Rugged Cross: and “It is Well With My Soul”, with Mrs. Jean Dykstra at the piano. The beautiful floral tributes were in charge of Mrs. Blanch Eubanks and Mrs. Ethel Pring. Pallbearers were Rollin Coughenour, Larry Dobson, James Ward, H. C. Larsen, Wm. G. Joor and Virgil Jennings. Graveside rites were in charge of the local Masonic Lodge. Burial was in the Iowa Center cemetery.”
