ANDREW O. HIGHLAND
Funeral services for Andrew Highland, who passed away New Year's Day at the Sunset Home in Story City were held Sunday afternoon at the Bergen Lutheran Church at this place, preceded by a short prayer service at the Sunset Home. Rev. Allen E. Nelson had charge of the services.
Pall bearers were Lloyd Ritland, O. M. Jacobson, Otis Wierson, Ole Maland, Olaf Highland and Pete Vikre. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery.
Those from a distance attending the funeral were from Des Moines, Slater, Nevada, Radcliffe and Story City.
Andrew O. Highland was born in Etna, Norway, on the 18th day of March, 1866. His parents were Ole K. Highland and Tordis Highland. He was baptized April 1, 1866 and confirmed when he was 14 years old, by the Rev. Heltberg in Etna, Norway.
Mr. Highland came to America in 1882, first locating in Morris, Illinois, where he remained for three years. Then he moved to Roland where he has lived and worked for over 65 years.
He has been a faithful and loyal member of the Bergen Lutheran congregation for over 60 years; in his youth he was a member of the choir.
Andrew was the last of eight children, being nearly 82 years of age at the time of his death. he passed away quietly and peacefully on New Year's Day at the Sunset Home in Story City.
Mr. Highland was a quiet, unassuming man; one outstanding trait was his thankfulness for small courtesies and favors.
Mr. Highland's eye-sight failed him in his latter years, but never once did he complain of his lot, always having a smile for young and old.
Mr. Highland, who never married, leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

A special thanks also to Mr. Freebert Riis and to Richard and Willard Erickson for their services.
