Slater, June 25--The funeral services for Robert Ersland, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Ersland were held at the Bethlehem church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. E. Duea had charge of the services. The children's choir of sixteen voices sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "Jesus Wants Me For a Sunbeam" and "There's a Friend For Little Children." A duet "In the Garden" was sung by Kathryn Nervig and Beatrice Skola, Miss Etta Maland and Mesdames M. S. Heggen, O. T. Reinertson and A. L. Peterson sand "Sometime We'll Understand." It was one of the largest funerals held here for years. The pall bearers were his play mates Eugene Severson, Hollis Hedlund, Stanley Thompson, Noel Christopher, Hubert Twit and Tunis Egland. The flower bearers were Mildred Reinertson, Stella Heggem, Evelyn Olson and Marvel Carlson. Robert was born August 18, 1913 and passed away June 18, 1923 at the age of 10 years and 10 months. He was beloved by all who knew him and will be sadly missed by his schoolmates as well as by those who were so dear to him. His illness dated back to last fall when complications developed following an operation for appendicitis. He leaves to mourn his loss his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Ersland and three sisters, Javerne, Esther and Rebecca, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ersland and Mr. and Mrs. S. Berhow besides many other relatives. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. Among relatives from a distance who attended were Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Hillestad, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Croft and Harold Ersland of Des Moines, Mrs. Erma Ersland of Ladora, Mr. and Mrs. S. Berhow of Huxley, Mr. and Mrs. John Olson of Perry.
