Funeral Services for Late Edmund Sharkey

Colo, April 13--Funeral services for Edmond Sharkey, 77, were held from St. Mary's church Monday with Rev. Father D. A. Gorman conducting requiem high mass. Pallbearers were W. F. Bales, Manie Morrell, Thomas Fitzgerald, James Croker, John Donnelly and Clarence Stark.Burial was made in the family lot at the St. James cemetery by the side of his wife, who preceded him in death a number of years ago.
Edmond Sharkey was born in Freeport, Illinois, March 16, 1860 the son of Bridget and Edmond Sharkey and came with his parents to Kinross, when but a small boy. The family later moved to Austin, Mo., where they made their home until 1895 when they moved to Story county.
On December 25, 1893 he was united in marriage to Benilda McGinnis at Freeport, Ill., who passed away August, 1931.
To this union were born two children, Frank of Long Beach, Calif. and Harley of Colo immediately following his marriage he engaged in farming, afterwhich he went into the grocery business and later was proprietor of a harness and shoe shop. Mr. Sharkey was a loving father and kind neighbor trustworthy and will be missed by his many friends.
He is survived by his two sons, one brother, Lawrence Sharkey of Ft. Scott, Kansas and one sister, Mrs. Anna Dailey of Kansas City, Mo., as well as a large number of other relatives and friends.
Those attending the funeral services from a distance were Mrs. Anna Dailey, Mrs. Harry Rice and three children and Vergo Kelly of Kansas City, Dr. and Mrs. John Kelly and three children of Cedar Rapids, Misses Sue McGrath, Margaret and Frances Kielly and Earl Webb of Marshalltown.
