Fire and Death

A terrible result of the electrical storm Saturday afternoon was the death of Loran Lambeth son of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Lambeth living on a farm of Mrs. Susan Reynolds east of town. Early in the afternoon the sun was shining an a bad storm was not expected. Mr. and Mrs. Lambeth were both in town and the children were at home alone when the storm came up. As soon and word came that their barn was burning they hurried home regardless of the rain. On reaching home they found Loran was missing and no one could tell his whereabouts. The children were playing in the barn when the storm came up. Loran had gotten separated from the others and it is believed he was struck by the lightening an killed instantly as the body was found near the wall, but not until the barn was burned down. Funeral services were held in the M. E. church Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. G. H. Johnson assisted by Rev. W. C. McKinley. The following obituary was read at the funeral. Loran LeRoy Lambeth was born near Colo December 23, 1909, and was lost to his earthly friends Oct. 2, 1915, aged 7 years, nine months and nine days. A loving bright eyed boy who will be missed by many. He was a bright pupil, a member of the third grade in the Colo school. A regular attendant of the M. E. Sunday school and wore his gold button with price. His father, mother, four brothers and two sisters are bereft of a treasure which God has gained. Other relatives survive him. Among them a grandmother and aunt living in Colo. God's will be done. Interment was made in the Colo cemetery. The entire community extend heart felt sympathy to the bereaved ones in their great sorrow.
