FUNERAL OF CLARENCE EARL

Being Held from the Old Homestead This Afternoon.

The funeral of the late Clarence W. Earl, whose death occurred in his home in Richland township. ---- morning after an illness covering a considerable period of time, is being held this afternoon as the home, the services being conducted by Rev. ---ed Ross Shirck of this city. Interment will be in the Nevada cemetery, where his parents and one brother are buried.

Clarence Wellington Earl, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Earl, was born Feb. 11, 1864, in Ogle county, Illinois, died Nov. 26, 1917, at the age of 53 years. He came to Story county as a small boy and the family settled on the old Earl homestead in the southeast corner of Richland township. There they lived for a number of years, but later moved to Nevada, where the father and son were engaged in the livery business till about the time of the death of the father. The business was sold in 1912 and three years later Mr. Earl with his wife and two daughters moved back to the old farm, which has since been their home.

He was married on Dec. 31, 1889, Miss Katie Elliott [should be Elliot], and to this union two daughters were born, both of whom with the wife and mother are left to mourn the death of the father. There is also one sister living, she being Mrs. Clark French of Richland township, the last of a family.

The two children are Mrs. Anna F. Clark, who with her husband and two children, Floyd and Kenneth Clark, live at home, as does Miss Eva Earl.

Mr. Earl was a man who was very active during his business career and had a wide acquaintance over the county. He was a man respected by all and leaves a wife circle of acquaintances who with the members of the family deeply mourn his untimely death. The members of the family will be extended the profound sympathy of all.
