Mrs Scott Dies Tuesday At Age 91
Mrs. Minerva Scott, 91, who had ben living with her son, Lewis Scott, Route 3, {Marshalltown, IA} since 1961, died Tuesday morning at Mercy Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Rhodes Methodist Church. Further services and burial are pending at Valentine, Neb., her former home.
She was born Nov. 1, 1872 in Collins {IA}, daughter of Wilson and Mary Grubb Fish, and was reared in Rhodes where she was graduated in 1890 from Rhodes High School.
She was married to Joel Edwin Scott Oct 15, 1890 and they farmed in that area until 1906 when they moved to Valentine, Neb. Mrs. Scott returned to Rhodes in the early 1940's making her home there until coming to live with her son.
Four other children survive. They are Leo V. Scott, Vicksburg, Minn; Leslie Sr. and Chester E., both Marshalltown, and Mrs. Harrison Jelly of Tuthil, S.D. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren and 72 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Scott was a member of the Rhodes Methodist Church and the Woman's Society of Christian Service.
Her husband died in 1931 and she was also preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers and two sisters.
A memorial fund is being established.
SCOTT, Mrs. Minerva 91, Route 3, lived at the home of her son Lewis, passed away at a local hospital Tuesday morning. Services Thrsday 2 p.m. Rhodes Methodist Church. Further services 2 p.m. Saturday at the Watts Funeral Home Valentine, Nebraska with burial following.
