Gerald Wampler

The home of Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Wampler was made very sad last Friday when their little son was called from earth to be with him who loves little children. Gerald Durant Wampler was born Oct. 11 1915 and died March 2, 1917 aged 1 year, 4 months and 19 days. Gerald was never a very rugged child and a bout a month age he was very sick with the grippe which was followed by pneumonia; he appeared to be recovering as rapidly as could be expected but the strain on his heart had been too severe and last week he grew steadily worse until the end came. He leaves to mourn their loss his parents and sister, Beulah, his grandmother Mrs. A. Cook and grandfather ad grandmother Mr. and Mrs. John Wampler and great grandfather Mr. I. S. French besides many other relatives. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday at 2 p. m. conducted by Rev. J. N. McCurdy who spoke words of comfort based on the words of Jesus, "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me; for of such is the kingdom of heaven." Matt 19:14. The little form was tenderly laid to rest in the Colo cemetery. Relatives and friends from out of town who attended the funeral included Mr. John Weidner, H. M. Wampler and daughter Ethel and Mrs. Glenn Cook of Des Moines, Mrs. A. Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cook and Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Lobaugh of Nevada, Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Chitty of Fernald, Mrs. I. S. French of Marshalltown and Miss Maisie Barnes of Collins. Heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones by the entire community.
