BAD NEWS OF THE WOODS
W. K. Critically Ill. His son Jas. H. Dead or Dying. Ezra A. Dead
Word comes in various ways of critical and fatal conditions among members of ell known Wood families of this county. Hon. W. K. Wood of Iowa Center, settler in the county in 1852 and its representative in 1870 and 1872, is supposed to be dying at Iowa Center at the great age of about 95. His absent children have been summoned; and from Curtis A., the eldest son, comes word that James H. the second son, a resident like himself of Chicago, is dying, but that Curt will be here this evening. Jas. H., it appears, has been very seriously ill for several weeks with rheumatism, which in some way has gone to his brain, and friends here are not surprised but take it for granted that he is probably already dead.
Ezra A. Wood is representative of an entirely different family but is also an old inhabitant very widely known in this county, although he has for some thirteen years been absent. He died at Orange, California, on February 7, following his wife, who died some two months before. He was 84 years of age, and his death is noted here with regret.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: William Kenison Wood did not die until 21 March 1917 in Story County, Iowa. His son, James Homer Wood, died a few days after this article was published on 16 February 1917 in Chicago, Cook County, Iowa.
Ezra Anson Wood (as stated from another family entirely) died on 7 February 1917. His wife, Charlotte Elizbeth (Herrigton) Wood, died on 26 November 1916. Both died in Orange County, California.
