Funeral Services Held Wednesday for Late Jacob Waltz

Funeral services for the late Jacob Waltz, 74, who died at his home here Sunday, from the effects of a stroke suffered a day or so before, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the Bishop funeral home after which the body was taken to Marshalltown for burial.

The service was in charge of Rev. C. E. Lookingbill, assisted by Dr. C. D. Loose. The songs were by Charles Handsaker, with Mrs. C. L. Gifford at the piano.

The following brief sketch of the life of the deceased was read during the service:

"Jacob R. Waltz, son of George and Martha Ann Waltz, was born south of Colo, on the old Waltz homestead, July 18, 1865, and lived and grew to manhood in that community.

"He was married to Miss Elizabeth Johnston at Britt, Feb. 17, 1892. To this union were born eight children, five of whom died in infancy. One son, Floyd R., preceded him in death at the age of 30 years.

"Mr. Waltz had a stroke at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Jones, south of Colo Thursday at 12:30 p. m. He was brought to his home in Nevada where he passed away, Sunday, Nov. 12 at 12:30 p. m., at the age of 74 years, 3 month and 24 days.

"He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and two daughters, Mrs. John Jones of Colo and Mrs. Floyd Rice of Marshalltown, two brothers, Charles of Collins and Lewis on the old homestead south of Colo, five grand children, other relatives and a host of friends.

"Mr. Waltz was a man of fine character and was much admired by all who knew him."
