Mrs. Guy Hardin Died In Hospital At Los Angeles
Mrs. Guy Hardin, 74, longtime resident of the Nevada community, died early Thursday at White Memorial hospital in Los Angeles, Calif., from complications from which she had been a sufferer for some time.
The body accompanied by her daughter, Faye, Mrs. Clarence Hilburn, who had been with the mother for two weeks, and the son Harry who made his home in Los Angeles, leaves there tonight and will arrive in Nevada Sunday night. Funeral rites will be held at Memorial Lutheran church Monday at 2 p. m. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery by the side of her husband, the late Guy Hardin who died November 2, 1932. Dr. J. O. Simon, for many years her pastor, will be in charge of the service.
She was born Nellie Nelson, daughter of Paul and Karen Nelson, at Carson City, November 25, 1874. The parents, who had moved from Nevada to Carson City a short time before, returned to Story county, Iowa, and located on the old homestead now the Frank Kinsman farm, west of Nevada, when she was a small child, and her home had been here since.
She was united in marriage to Guy Hardin, at Nevada, 46 years ago the coming December 6.
Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hardin, four of whom survive the parents. Those living are Mildred, now Mrs. Ray Reimer of Marshalltown; Lela, now Mrs. C. S. Toot of near Fernald; Faye, now Mrs. Clarence Hilburn of near Fernald and Harry who had been with the mother in Los Angeles. Ivan, the eldest son died of the flu during the World war and Harriet, twin sister of Harry, died in 1930.
She also leaves three sisters and two brothers. They are Mrs. Lars Haugsted of Nevada, Mrs. Walter Paulson of Ames, Otto Nelson of Algona, Saren Nelson of Woodburn, Oregon, and Mrs. Martha Peterson of Nevada.
Mr. and Mrs. Hardin lived upon a farm in the northern part of the county for some time after their marriage but moved into Nevada probably 20 years ago and their home had been at the corner of Fourth and K avenue thereafter.
She closed her home here and had been living in California for the past three years with her son Harry. She had been back in Nevada and spent the summer months with relatives and friends returning to California only about a month ago. She was taken ill shortly after reaching her home.
