Pioneer Resident of Story City Called to His Reward

The very sudden death of O. T. Henryson, well known pioneer resident of Story City, was a decided shock to all. He died at his home near Story City on Wednesday evening, February 14 from heart failure. Funeral services were held last Saturday at St. Petri church at 2 o'clock. Mr. Henryson had been around town and in his usual health during the day and there was no indication of any trouble. While he had not felt normal due to a cold on the lungs, nothing was thought of it. Mrs. Henryson went downstairs after a pitcher of water during the night and during her brief absence he suffered a attack of heart failure and expired within a few minutes.

Mr. O. T. Henryson was born February 26, 1850, at Lisbon, Ill., and in the year 1865 came to Iowa in a caravan of pioneers, among whom were the Torkel Henryson, Andreas Mathre and Claus Jacobson families. Mr. Henryson had been her the previous year, namely 1864, and returned to get his parents and his brothers and sisters. He was united in holy bonds of marriage in 1876 to Martha Thompson and to this union six children were born. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and six children: Mrs. A. E. Henderson, Mrs. J. O. Anderson, T. Z. Henryson, M. H. Henryson, Mrs. O. Mortvedt and Clara Henryson, also two brothers, T. T. and H. T. Henryson.

Mr. Henryson was a pioneer and had seen much of the rude pioneer life of the neighborhood and has long been prominent in affairs of the community of Story City and adjoining places. He was at the time of his death vice president of the First National Bank at Story City, was a retired farmer and also director in the Farmers Mutual Insurance company of Story and adjoining counties. He was active in farming as well as in the banking interests of Story City.
