Ove Holland Died Early Today at Home In Roland

Roland, July 15--Ove Holland, 74, for over 57 years a resident of this community, died at his home here at 12:07 a. m. today, from the effects of a stroke suffered about 6 weeks ago. Death came just two months after that of his wife, Belle Johnson-Holland, who passed away on May 15, 1939.

Funeral arrangements are awaiting word from a daughter Mrs. J. J. Stevens of Vallejo, Calif.

Mr. Holland was a native of Sevde, Norway, where he was born June 15, 1865, a son of Halvor and Ellen Holland. He came to America and located near Roland when a la of 17 years an here he was united in marriage to Belle Johnson, June 15, 1893.

They lived on various farms in this community and finally brought the Maakestad homestead north of Roland, where they resided until 20 years ago, when they occupied a new home they had built in Roland. With the exception of one year spent in Texas, their entire married life had been spent in this community, where they reared a highly respectable family.

They are survived by seven children, who are Mrs. I. J. Norem, Mrs. Porter Borwick and Overt Holland, all of Roland; Herman and Berlin Holland of Boone; Bailus Holland of Red Oak and Mrs. J. J. Stevens of Vallejo, Calif. They also leave 22 grandchildren.

Mr. Holland leaves one brother John Holland of Odin, Minn., and sisters Berghild Holland and Mrs. Mollie Rogers of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Mary Orthun and Mrs. L. B. Selbie [should be Selvig] of Roland.
