Frank Darner Died In Hospital at Ames Saturday
Special to the Journal.
Ames, Mar. 13--Frank M. Darner, 70, former resident of Ames but later of Minneapolis, died here Saturday from injuries sustained when struck down by a motor car driven by Eugene O'Neil at Fifth and Burnett. He had been in the hospital continuously since.Darner, who had lived in Minneapolis for the past 12 years after moving from Ames, was visiting here with a sister, Mrs. Grandon Hickle at North Burnett avenue, at the time the accident occurred. During his four months in the hospital he was cared for by a granddaughter, Miss Francile Darner, a regular nurse at the hospital.
Born July 18, 1866, Mr. Darner operated a farm near Ames about 35 or 40 years ago before moving into Ames. For several years he was a traveling salesman for a Missouri hardware concern, but later opened a grocery store here, which he operated for a number of years. During the past 12 years he had been a salesman for hardware concern in Minneapolis.
