Committal Services for Former Colo Woman on Friday

Colo, Mar. 11--Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Lewis, 80, who died at San Pedro, California, Monday were held here Friday afternoon at 3:00, shortly after the body had arrived from California. Services were conducted by Rev. E. E. Boom of the Calvary Evangelical church. Pallbearers were Geo. V. Granger, Art Perry, Nelson Perry, Fred Perry, Charles Reed and W. F. Bales.Nancy Emeline Gilchrist was born to Adam Wilson Gilchrist and Sarah Catherine Gilchrist in Greenville, Indiana, on May 14th, 1858, and passed away at her home in San Pedro, California, on Mar. 6th, 1939, at 12:19 p. m., age 80 years, 9 months and 20 days.
On April 5, 1865, she came with her parents and sister, the later Mrs. Mary C. Cory, to Story County, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Edwin G. Lewis on April 3rd, 1883, and to this union were born five daughters, all left to mourn her loss. She was a member of the United Evangelical Church of Colo.
She united with Calvary Evangelical Church of Colo, upon confession of faith, in December of 1901, during the pastorate of Rev. J. M. Bamford.
In 1910 the family moved from Colo to Des Moines, Iowa, where on April 14th, 1915, Mr. Lewis passed away. The family moved from Des Moines, Iowa to San Pedro, California in 1923.
The survivors are Mrs. Edna Schmidt and Mrs. Flossie Heafield of Tacoma, Washington; Mrs. Carrie Mansfield of San Pedro, Calif., and Miss Mary Lewis and Mrs. Vena Wray, with whom she resided.
