Mrs. F. L. Robinson Laid to Rest In Nevada Cemetery
The body of Mrs. F. L. Robinson, 62, who die at her home at Rolfe Sunday evening, was laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery on Tuesday afternoon at about 3:00, following a brief prayer service by Rev. C. E. Lookingbill, who with a large party of local relatives and friends met at the funeral party here.
Services had been held at Rolfe at 10 a.m. after with a large concourse of relatives and old friends and neighbors had accompanied the funeral party to Nevada for interment.
The following brief life sketch of the deceased was prepared and read at the funeral service by the pastor:
Mary Adella Bates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elnathan Bates, was born on a farm southeast of Nevada, Feb. 24th, 1877 and died at her home at Rolfe, Ia., Feb. 12, 1939, lacking but 12 days of being 62 years of age. She spent her childhood and youth on the same farm near Nevada, until the time of her marriage. She was married to Frank L. Robinson at Nevada on January 12, 1899. they moved to Pocahontas county, on January 20, 1899, which has been their home ever since except for eight years spent in Winnebago county. They had live at their present home at the edge of Rolfe for 24 years.
She united with the Evangelical church at Nevada at about 12 years of age, and has retained that membership till death. Her Christian training and faith has been a comfort to her and has been a strong influence in her life through the years. She was a charter member of the Rolfe Women's Club. None but the kindest words come from those who have known her best.
She has been in failing health for the past two years. Slowly she has approached the end. The cause of death was heart trouble and dropsy.
No children were born in the family. In her passing she leaves her husband, Frank L. Robinson; one sister, Mrs. Frank Whitaker of Nevada; two twin brothers, Leland Bates of Nevada, and Eland Bates of Ames; four nephews and five nieces; and a circle of friends innumberable.
