Richardson Funeral at Maxwell Tuesday

Maxwell, May 3--Funeral services for Frank Richardson, who passed away Saturday at the University hospital in Iowa City, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 from the Presbyterian church with Rev. H. D. Robison of Altoona and Rev. B. H. Guthrie of Maxwell in charge. The songs "Lead Kindly Light" and "It Is Well with My Soul" were sung by a male quartet composed of Earl Bowen, Clark John, Dale John and Gurton Nelson with Mrs. T. C Couch at the piano. The pall bearers were S. G. Sherman, D. G. Douglass, V. D. Gamble, L. Golden of Nevada, E. E. McClure of Colo and Edwin Fish of Collins. Interment was made in the Center Grove cemetery.
Frank Blair Richardson, son of Mary and Robert Richardson was born March 3, 1860 in Ft. Byron, Ill. and departed this life April 28, 1934 in Iowa City, Iowa at the age of 74 years, one month and 25 days. At the age of 3, with his parents he moved to the Elwell neighborhood where he spent practically all the remainder of his life.
Feb. 12, 1884 he was united in marriage with Sarah Jane Gamble. To this union were born seven children, Mrs. Clyde Boster of Whittier, Calif., Mrs. Lelia Watson of Oxford, Nebr., Mrs. Fred Maxwell, Gale and Eldon of Maxwell. One daughter, Hazel, died in infancy. In 1889 he became a member of the Presbyterian church at Maxwell till the end of his life. For many years he was a ruling elder and was actively interested in erecting the present edifice.
Mr. Richardson was one of pioneer farmers of this community always alive to its interests and welfare. For many years he was an efficient director of the Center Grove school. He was a devout christian, having that "simple child like faith in God." His chief characteristic was cheerfulness and faith in his fellow men. Mr. and Mrs. Richardson enjoyed half a century of happy married life--having celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in February of this year. He was a loving father and found a keen enjoyment in the company of his grandchildren.
Besides his wife and six children he leaves to mourn his departure 17 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, Mrs. Smith Payne of Edison, Nebr., Mrs. James Forester [should be Forrester] of Ogden, Utah, Mrs. Effie Sheldon of Waterloo, two brothers, Will and Charles of this place and a host of other relatives and friends.
Relatives attending from a distance were Mrs. Leila Watson, Oxford, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Richardson and son of Imperial, Nebr., Mrs. Effie Sheldon of Waterloo and Mrs. Lou Newton and son Kady of Winterset.
