Funeral at Kelley for Burton Froland

Huxley, Aug. 30 -- Funeral services for Burton Froland, former Huxley man were held Monday afternoon at the Bethany Lutheran church in Kelley with the Rev. P. E. Omstad of Slater in charge.

The Erickson sisters sang two duets and Rev. Omstad sang a solo.

Gifts of money were given in memory of Mrs. Froland to the organ fund of the Fjeldberg Lutheran church in Huxley.

The pallbearers, cousins of the deceased were Nels Oakland, Clear Lake; Nels Richardson, Elmer Richardson, John Oakland and Elmer and Oliver Richardson.

Burton Froland was born Nov. 22, 1905, five mile north of Huxley, the son of Nels and Betsy Froland. He was baptized in the Bethany Lutheran church in Kelley and confirmed in the Fjeldberg Lutheran church in Huxley where he since had been a member.

Mr. Froland drowned Friday, Aug. 21, while swimming with two other friends near Chicago, Ill., where he was employed by the Yellow Cab Co.

Froland spent his early days near Huxley. He left for Chicago 20 years ago.

He is survived by seven sisters, Mrs. Ed (Inger) Right [should be Wright], Garden City, N. Y.; Mrs. Glen (Nellie) Parker, Joplin, Mo.; Mrs. Ole (Elma) Lee, Kelley; Mrs. Tom (Beatrice) Eide, Estherville; Mrs. Glen (Lillie) Orthmeyer [should be Ortmayer}, Charles City and Mrs. Fred (Ruth) Berhow, Ames; two brothers, Richard, Owen, Wis., and Hans, Huxley.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, Nora; one brother, Henry, and his stepmother, who reared him into manhood.

All his surviving sisters and brothers were present at the funeral.
